About Us

A mobile health movement built around one simple idea: a child cannot learn if a child is not well.

Overview

We identify health barriers to learning — and remove them on site

Healing Wheels Uganda is an initiative that identifies health barriers to learning among school-going children and provides fully sponsored on-site prevention, screening and treatment as required, to enable each child to fulfil their potential.

We are a public health organisation first — education and prevention come before testing and treatment. Every service is timely, affordable and patient-centred.

A multidisciplinary team of doctors, nurses, counsellors, teachers and volunteers travels with a fully-equipped mobile clinic into schools and communities across Uganda that static facilities rarely reach — fully sponsored, and aligned to the school calendar.

How We Work

Three moving parts, one continuum of care

Our work is directed at identifying and managing health barriers to learning among school-aged children.

🚐

Mobile Healthcare Units

Custom-designed vehicles equipped with modern healthcare equipment bring basic healthcare to historically underserved areas.

🤝

Partnerships

We collaborate with local government bodies and private institutions to address health barriers to learning at district and national level.

🙋

Volunteers

A team of volunteer medical professionals works closely with schools to provide comprehensive medical checkups, health education and necessary treatment.

Who We Are For

The child at the back of the class — and everyone around them

Picture the pupil who keeps missing lessons, whose grades slip not from lack of effort but from a toothache no one has treated, a bout of malaria, or a period spent at home for want of a pad. That child is who we exist for.

  • School-going children in geographically, socially or economically isolated communities.
  • Families who cannot reach — or cannot afford — a static clinic.
  • The mothers, young mothers and elders in the same communities we hope to reach next.

Reach the child where they already are, and you reach a whole community.

What We Do →

This is who we are — now see what we do

From a single school camp to a nationwide vision, every part of our work begins with one healthy child. Come and build that with us.
