Care is fully sponsored for every child, and a UGX 10,000 term contribution from families who can afford it covers 61% of the cost per child when paid in full — so communities own the programme and it endures between donor cycles.

About the UGX 10,000 term contribution. Families who are able to are invited to contribute UGX 10,000 per child per term. Paid in full — UGX 30,000 across the three terms, about $8.06 — it covers 61% of the $13.21 real cost per child per year, with sponsors covering the remaining $5.15. It is collected termly, through the school, from families whose children are well at the time, never at the point of care. If a family can afford less they pay less; if they cannot pay at all, care is not withheld. We plan on 50% collection. With or without the contribution, no child is ever refused care. Screening, treatment, medicines and sanitary kits are provided the same way to every child, and sponsor funding covers the balance.

Most of what your gift buys is prevention — health education, hygiene supplies, safe waste management and screening. Preventing an illness costs a fraction of treating it, which is what makes $13.21 a year per child possible in the first place.
