ElderCare Initiative

When an elder can no longer travel to care, care should travel to them.

So every elder can:

The Idea

Reaching the elders the system forgets

Uganda’s over-60 population exceeds 1.6 million, and 80% live in rural areas — most with multiple chronic conditions and no means to reach care.

ElderCare would bring mobile clinics with trained multidisciplinary teams to elderly Ugandans in hard-to-reach communities: chronic-disease screening and management, vision, hearing and dental care, health education, medication supply and referral coordination — aligned with the National Policy for Older Persons and the WHO Decade of Healthy Ageing.

An elderly man at a community health camp
  • Chronic-disease screening and management (hypertension, diabetes).
  • Vision, hearing and dental care.
  • Health education and counselling.
  • Medication supply and referral coordination.
